These are great tips Sylvia, I just wanted to add that I know it sounds like a lot of work, but just know that you can link your blog to Facebook, Twitter and even your blog on Amazon. That way when you post something on your blog it’s automatically posted on those networks as well. I agree about being a resource as well, I not only do posts on writing, I do some giving relationship advice since I’ve been online so long and people come to me for advice. I post recipes, budget tips and just general commentary on life. It doesn’t always have to be about selling your book or writing. I’d be bored into a coma if I just did that.

I have a clue of what you are both talking about regarding adding a blog to your website or vice versa, however, it is so over my head; and I have so much on my plate, only recently about to hire an assistant, I don’t know if I’d have time to learn how to add a blog to my website or vice versa (but i do have a website).

If either of you or anyone else can tell me, is it simple to do this or, should I just pay someone (along with being a published author, teacher, publisher, etc., I have lupus and the brain can only hold so many things).

I do agree with you, but I felt initially with all the information I’m giving today, I better not get too technical. LOL. We’d have to go into blogging 101.

But you are right, an author with a their own CMS system is a great way to build brand, which in turn brings audiences to their weblog that will equal potential book sales!

Sylvia, thanks so much for sharing this information with us today. My apologies for the delay in responding and welcoming you. We’re probably saying the same thing, but in different ways, but for the part when you mention to “dump your website and get a weblog and point to blogger or wordpress” I’d like to add something.

While I know that many, many people do user free services like this, that doesnâ€™t really help â€œyourâ€ brand as much as it helps wordpress or bloggerâ€™s. What I would advise instead is to use your own domain name to set up WordPress and run it on your own site. Though initially developed as blogging tools WordPress and Blogger type of platforms are wonderful for for any type of site, basically using it as a content management system.

thanks Linda. Even though in the beginning it was more of a necessity for me being a single mother, I’m glad I choose to learn it then.

The world of E-books is happening fast with a lot more to come. I was blessed to have an early jump on technology and marketing.
