Black Book Chat with Dyanne Davis (Book: On My Knees)

We continue our Holiday Reading Challenge today with Dyanne Davis who has been an avid supporter of RAWSISTAZ for years, so it’s great to be able to have her here with us to discuss ON MY KNEES.  Dyanne is also a columnist for RAWSISTAZ, so be sure to check out some of her past articles and stop through monthly to see what great advice and writing tips she’s sharing.  Also, check out her website at http://www.dyannedavis.com.

ON MY KNEES is Book 14 of our Holiday Reading Challenge.

FROM THE AUTHOR

dyanneHappy New Year to ALL,

As always RAWSISTAZ has done a splendid job of bringing us all together to talk books.  And like me, you may not have read all of the books presented in the challenge, but I still think we can have a dialogue about books.

Since Deatri King-Bey has already given this info during her chat, I’m just going to do a quick repeat of how Destination Romance came to be and my small part in it. I’m sure most of you know that Dee was in the military. (nuff said) LOL. When Deatri (Dee) and Barbara Keaton want me to participate in something they just call me and tell me what I’m doing.

I hope all of you are at least aware of Romance Slam Jam and what it’s for, even if you’ve never participated or plan to participate. Short version, it’s now a non-profit organization that will be celebrating fifteen years of bringing readers and writers of African-American romance together through conferences sponsored in different cities each year. For the history visit the RSJ website at http://www.romanceslamjam.org/Conference/Newsletter/newsletter.htm.

Anyway, for this anniversary we’re having a cruise in April and wanted to do something special to tie it all together. Dee thought about having all of the authors do a short story 3-5 pages. That didn’t pan out, but she did get several of us to agree to write a longer story, about 60 pages. Since I tend to write long, as in this message, I was warned not to go over.  I’m proud to say I did the story in 64 pages.  Yeah me!!

Next, Deatri asked us if we’d like to donate any and all profits to a charity. We were all cool with that. So while I don’t expect all of you to have read the entire book, or all of the individual stories in Destination Romance, I wish to thank you for supporting the writers who participated, Red Rose Publishing and the organization which will benefit.

All proceeds go to the South Side Help Center, an HIV/AIDS prevention intervention and education program for African-American women in Chicago. African American women are the fastest growing population being diagnosed with HIV and/or AIDS.

As a thank you for spending part of your day chatting with me I’d like to give away copies of three of my books (your choice): The Critic, Another Man’s Baby and my vampire, Adam Omega: In The Beginning. I will randomly pull names during the day from those of you who post. After each drawing I’ll post the winners. In addition, I will give away a copy of Destination Romance, considering it is for charity. (Smile)  That will be a separate drawing and I’ll post details about it later in the day.  (Sneaky right?)  I’ll need the winners to email me at davisdyanne@aol.com with their mailing address.  Don’t worry; I am not going to start sending you spam announcing my works.

So, let’s get started: To the ones who actually read On My Knees, did the title fool you?

  1. Tee C. Royal says:

Heyyyyyyy Dyanne and welcome to today’s Black Book Chat. We are winding things down with our Holiday Reading Challenge, so let’s jump right in and get things started.

First off, Dyanne, I think it’s wonderful what RSJ and the authors are doing to help out this organization. How has the feedback been so far? And, have you read the entire series? If so, what’s your favorite?

    -Tee

  2. A.M. Wells says:

    Hi, Dyanne.

Yes, I’ve read on my knees and I must say the title did have my thoughts wonder elsewhere.

  3. Sharon says:

Good morning Dyanne:) Thank you for joining us today to chat.

How did you get started into writing romance?

  4. Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Good morning and thank you for chatting with us today!!!

  5. Dyanne Davis says:

    Thanks Tee,

The feedback has been wonderful. Seriously, to get authors to participate in an endeavor that will bring them no revenue was a real eye opener for me. LOL. Take that anyway you want to.

Do you really think I’m going to tell you which of the stories is my favorite? No way. There was one story that I looked at before it was published, to sort of spot check for a friend. I loved the story. Since all of the authors are my friends you still don’t know who I’m talking about. All of the authors are fantastic and I enjoy reading their work.

    Dyanne

    • Tee C. Royal says:

This is great, Dyanne! I think this is the first literary project I know of (or can remember) that was done solely for charity, so I think it’s pretty cool. So, again KUDOS to you guys and Red Rose Publishing for making it happen. I’m sure it was an eyeopener, but freely giving like that will definitely come back to each of you in more abundance, and even better, I’m sure the women & the charity greatly appreciate your efforts.

LOL @ not answering the question. I knew you wouldn’t, but I figured I could ask. :)

      -Tee

  6. Sharon says:

No the title didn’t fool me….I just figured it meant a man proposing

  7. Sharon says:

    OOOOOOOO…a giveaway…YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

    • angelia says:

      Good Morning Dyanne,
I loved your short story, was just what I needed after a grueling day crunching numbers. Also, what a wonderfully giving mission DESTINATION ROMANCE is and so needed. And a bit off subject yours was the first Vampire book I read and I loved me some Adam~

      Blessings~
      angelia

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Angelia,

I have to tell you I also love Adam. I’m getting ready to bring the third book out next month. I also enjoyed writing about Vulcan the demon in Carnivale Diabolique. I was enjoying writing vampires and demons so much that it took a minute to remember that no one could possess or bite Carmen.

        Dyanne

  8. Dyanne Davis says:

    Good morning, A. M. Wells,

Happy New Year. My mind wondered a little bit too. LOL

    Dyanne

  9. Tee C. Royal says:

Dyanne, I will admit I don’t love short stories and novellas, so I didn’t enjoy this as much as your full-length novels I’ve read. From what you’ve already said (and my recent conversations with you), I know you prefer longer books. What more would you have done had this been a full-length novel?

I initially asked Barbara to join the Holiday Reading Challenge also, but I think there was a disconnect and she never got the email, but I’m glad you and Deatri were able to take part, to spotlight this collaborative effort. Also, what was this process like for you? How hands-on were you with it?

    -Tee

  10. Dyanne Davis says:

    Good morning Sharon,

Happy New Year. I started writing romances after joining RWA. I initially did it because I thought romances would be easy. LOL. After years of rejections I realized my mistake. It definitely wasn’t easy and still isn’t.

    Dyanne

  11. Hi Dyanne- Stopping by on this cold morning to tell you congrats. It’s a wonderful thing what you, the other authors and the publisher did. All of the stories in Destiny Romance are great. Good luck to you all.

    LaVerne

  12. Jaime L. Lincoln says:

How long did it take you to realize that Carmen and Aaron were actually married?
It took me a moment, I got suspicious when Aaron got huffy about the money. Then when they were about to make love and he was talking about having children with her.

    • Sharon says:

I realized the first time he told her he wanted to make love to her…I think it was in the bar.

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Sharon,

Before that did you get upset that he was cheating?

        Dyanne

        • Sharon says:

No I didn’t get upset but I thought he was definitely wrong for his thoughts when he had a woman at home. Also…I can’t remember you letting on in the beginning that he was married…only that he was in a committed relationship. Am I correct?

          • Dyanne Davis says:

            Okay,

I had to go out and shovel snow with Bill. It is so beautiful but at least six inches of the fluffy white stuff. And it’s still coming down.

Sharon, you know how something is in your head and you have the answer to it so you don’t actually know if you gave others the info or not? That’s where I am right now. More than likely you’re right that I didn’t say married just that he had a woman.

All the time I kept wanting to give clues, yet not give up too much information. I do know Barb told him he was a married man.

            Dyanne

        • Tee C. Royal says:

I didn’t get mad per se, but I did roll my eyes and do the “here we go again” spill. It turned me off immediately, because based on the intro, he wasn’t supposed to be one of “those” men.

          -Tee

          • 'cilla says:

I remember Carmen saying she was married but he was in a committed relationship. Until he met Barbara and she blurted out he was married… when I put it all together, i remembered him saying that his wife never attended any functions with him – so they could not identify one another..Great Twist :-)

            • Sharon says:

Thanks Cilla:) I had to think back for a minute…he never once said he was married.

            • Dyanne Davis says:

You know when this chat is over I have to go back and find out if I said he was married or not. I’ll tell you what. The first person to tell me the page where I said he was married gets a book of their choice. It has to be one that I have though.

              Dyanne

          • Dyanne Davis says:

            Tee,

Don’t you know me well enough by now to know my guy wouldn’t be cheating. (Adam doesn’t count.) Now, the woman…. LOL.

            Dyanne

        • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

I was a little heated, but I kept reading. And Sharon, I was trying my best not to have to kick him in his neck, LOL!!!! In the end I didn’t have to.

      • 'cilla says:

you are good.. this is the one story that had me stumped until the end.. I had no clue they were married…

    • Dyanne Davis says:

Jamie and all I just saw that all of my comments were listed together and wondered why. Since I’m on the phone with someone who’s looking at the site right now they told me that I was supposed to be hitting reply to the person.

I knew from the beginning that they were married. I was planting clues like when he was complaining about all of the luggage he was carrying.

      Dyanne

      • Sharon says:

yes you dropped a lot of clues

      • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Once I made it to the end, I realized what was happening and yes you did drop a lot of clues. I wondered how he knew about the crotchless panties and more importantly why she didn’t wear them, LOL!!!!!!

        • Sharon says:

          Right…that was a bit much….LOL

        • Dyanne Davis says:

          Jaime,

The man wanted to act nasty in public. LOL. She couldn’t let him do that. RIGHT?

          Dyanne

          • Sharon says:

Well what the sense in bringing them if she wasn’t going to use them….LOL!!!

            • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

              Exactly!!!!!

              • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

They were both playing different roles and doing a good job at it, so why not follow thru with the panties?

                • Dyanne Davis says:

                  Jaime and Sharon,

Because I couldn’t make myself write that. LOL. And Tee, yes, I noticed that I kept spelling Jaime’s name different each time I replied. I was waiting for her to tell me to cut it out. But it wasn’t on purpose. Sometimes I misspell my own name.

                  Dynnane (see)

                  • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Well, I guess I understand, but you are the same person that was in the middle of the parking lot kissing her husband, correct? What’s the harm in a lil crotchless panties, LOL?

As, I said in a previous post I won’t hold it against you, but thank you for noticing!!!! I learned the obsessive behavior about the spelling of my name from my mother, she was always quick to correct the spelling.

                    • Dyanne Davis says:

Kissing and being fondled under a table are two different things. But you know what, what the heck? The next romance I write I’ll put that scene in and see what happens.

(I hope my seat to the upper realms is still reserved.) LOL

                      Dyanne

                    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

I guess you do have a point, there is a difference. But affection is but affection…LOL!!! I look forward to your bold adventure. Please Keep me posted.

      • Tee C. Royal says:

Whew…cuz I was getting LOST trying to keep up. Thanks to your friend. :)

        -Tee

  13. Dyanne Davis says:

    Tee,

My editor once told me that I didn’t have a short book in me. So I set out to prove her wrong on several fronts. I wrote prequels for Amazon and I wrote several stories for Love Story Magazine. When Parker Publishing asked me to participate in an anthology they said they’d never asked me before because they didn’t believe I could write short. And get this: They gave me extra word count because they knew I wouldn’t stick to it. LOL.

Now for the other question you asked, what more would I have done with the story? I have no idea. Since I write by the seat of my pants I have to have the characters tell me what’s going on. This time they weren’t allowed to tell me because I had to stick to a page count.

    Dyanne

    • Tee C. Royal says:

LOL! So will you write more short stories/novellas?

      -Tee

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Tee,

I will definitely write more now. Especially for Love Stories magazine. Hey, they pay $300 for 2000-5000 words. Actually, I’m thinking of putting together a book of short stories and selling them on my website. I’ve already set up an account with paypal. But I’m talking really short stories 5000 words. Some are a bit longer. I’m going to include the ones that were in the magazine.

        Dyanne

    • Hi, Dyanne, my writing machine/friend. You speak the truth when you say you can’t write a short anything! I’m a witness. I think it a wonderful idea to assist our sisters in Chicago suffering from HIV/AIDS and educating others of the horrible disease.

What we receive are good books from you and Dee and the other contributers. I haven’t gotten my copy yet but I will.

I wish you all the very best and hope it’s contagious.

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Minnie,

I know you know. As for the book Minnie wait until the end of the day you might just win a copy. You actually have two chances to win considering the members of my yahoo group get an extra chance.

        Dyanne

  14. Sharon says:

Did anyone at first think Barbara had a crush on Aaron/Richard?

Would you feel funny reading a romance novel written by a man?

    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Did anyone at first think Barbara had a crush on Aaron/Richard?
Nope, I think she was just looking out for him.

Would you feel funny reading a romance novel written by a man?
Nope, I have read one or two male romance novelist in the past and they were ok.

      • Tee C. Royal says:

I forgot to answer the second part, but I liked that he was writing as a woman! It surprised me that folks actually knew who he was though on the cruise. I’d think he would’ve kept that part secret. I’ve read a few male authors who wrote pretty close to romance and Timmothy McCann sits at the top of that list. Someone mentioned Earl Sewell, but I wouldn’t classify his books as romance.

I like seeing male authors take on romance and love; especially since most women don’t expect it to match up with ours. :)

        -Tee

        • Dyanne Davis says:

          Tee,

I would totally recommend Raising Fences for a view of the male mind. One thing though. He kept jumping from adult to childhood and he made me crazy so I skipped to all of the childhood chapters then did the adult. I loved the entire book but hated that when I was all caught up in what he was doing at a certain age he plunged to something else. I’ve never read another book in that order.

          Dyanne

    • A.M. Wells says:

No, I never thought that. LOL

In general I don’t care to read romance novel written by men. But I have read Earl Sewell’s books and wouldn’t call them romance more like family saga.

    • Tee C. Royal says:

Ahahaha! No, I didn’t think Barbara was interested in him, but I think since I know her, I wouldn’t even let the thought enter my head. That dynamic of the book (knowing some of the characters are real people) kinda tickled me. Especially with Barbara, because I could see her doing EXACTLY what her character was doing in the book.

      -Tee

      • Sharon says:

But in the beginning it seem she was always up in his face until I got further into the story and saw she was just a friend.

        • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

She was always in his face, but I didn’t think she wanted him as a boy toy. I thought it was more of a sister looking out for her brother.

I loved it when Carmen made friends with Brenda, Violet and the others.

          • Tee C. Royal says:

I loved how they pulled her in too. Deatri included this in her book as well, but if you’ve ever been to a RSJ event, you’d get it. That’s really how it goes down, at least at the events I attended. (A lot of the people I did know from online, but it was that instant connection and “hey girl” type of thing that went on in these books.)

            I love it!

            -Tee

            • Dyanne Davis says:

              Exactly Tee,

All of the stories take place on the cruise in April. You can just imagine all of the people being there. Anyone here going on the RSJ cruise?

              Dyanne

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Tee,

My knowing the people involved I could picture them and at times was laughing so hard. I took out a lot of things though so they wouldn’t kill me. But you would have to see Lisa and Barb together and you would know what I’m talking about. I think I’ll go back and post a segment of a show they were on together. Lisa is like the straight man for us. Her expressions make us act up. The three of us have given workshops together and it’s hilarious. Lisa is like the professional and a mother. I’d said she brings out the crazy in us. Barb and I love to mess with her.

        Dyanne

    • Dyanne Davis says:

I wanted to give the illusion that Barb was after him. I read a really wonderful romance by a man a few years ago, Raising Fences, A Black Man’s love Story. It’s one of those keeper books. His name is Michael Datcher

      Dyanne

    • 'cilla says:

I thought Barbara was being a very observant friend..

I have read romance novels by men – give another pov

  15. Dyanne Davis says:

    Hey Jamie,

Happy New Year. You know I wanted people’s mind to go to the gutter. After all of the other authors had such hot titles I wanted one. But I think anyone that knows me knew it wasn’t going to be what the title implied….like, Another Man’s Baby. That book was selling like crazy and I went on Amazon and blogged that it wasn’t what they thought it was. I didn’t want readers getting angry. But I tell you after the nose dive I almost wish I had kept my mouth closed. LOL

    Dyanne

  16. Dyanne Davis says:

Ahh, Sharon, so you don’t have a dirty mind. And you were right. Actually now I’m trying to remember if he went on his knees to propose. Hmm. I have to go and check. He was supposed to even if he didn’t

    Dyanne

  17. Dyanne Davis says:

    Good morning LaVerene,

Happy New Year and thank you for stopping in. You’re right it’s cold and in Chicago, lots of snow. I want to thank Red Rose for donating all of the proceeds as well. That was really cool and generous.

    Dyanne

  18. Hi Dyanne,
This is Patsy checking in to let you know I am reading the posts.
I haven’t read any of the stories yet I was waiting on it to come out in print.
Just curious, I would like to know , what is your preference? Print or e-book? I prefer print because the older I get, I can only stay on the computer but so long before my eyes start to blur, with my paperback, I can red all day, with the help of my trusty 1.50 readers. ;-) ( Even though II will get me a Kindle when the price comes down.)
Enjoy your chat and I am still waiting on Adam and Eve #3

    • Sharon says:

Patsy…..I know you directed this to Dyanne…..but I prefer print. Even though I love being on the computer and I’m on it all day, there’s nothing like holding a book in my hands, samelling the pages I turn…love it!!!

      • 'cilla says:

I am with you Sharon.. I prefer print version

        • Tee C. Royal says:

I agree mostly…lol…but do either of you have an electronic reader? If not, don’t rule them out. :)

          -Tee

          • Sharon says:

No I don’t have one…..I’m indecisive on getting one.

          • Tee C
I haven”t rules it out as an option. For me right now I can’t afford one, but it is on my wish list.
I think it would be good for traveling, then I wouldn’t have to carry a tote bag full of books
with me when I go somewhere. (Yes, I carry books everywhere I go, even keep a couple in the trunk of my car in case I break down and have a long wait for the tow truck. Emergency kit includes, blanket, water, flashlight, reading glasses, knife and books.
            ReadinDiva

          • Dyanne Davis says:

Of course you have instructions on posting listed. But did I pay attention? Nooooo. So now, Tee, do you really think I’m any good at anything other than a paper book that I can open and read? LOL

Another drawing in one hour. Judge Judy is on.

            Dyanne

    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

I’m old fashioned and prefer the actual book too. I’m getting a lil better and have added a few more ebooks to my collection. I still prefer the actual book, though. I’m thinking about getting a Kindle when I can afford it.

      • Dyanne Davis says:

I have bought a few ebooks. I bought one by Kayla Perrin. Then saw she’d used my name and Chicago in her erotica. I was too embarrassed to read the story. And I do plan to return the favor.

Of course you’re now wondering how the heck I think I can just use people’s name and no one would use mine. Yeah, me too. LOL

        Dyanne

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Patsy,

I prefer print. I carry books with me everywhere I go. I can’t carry even my laptop with me everywhere. And right now I’m too cheap to buy a kindle. I know lots of readers are loving ebook better. But when I’m on the computer it’s to work or play. Computers don’t do very well in the bathtub.

      Dyanne

  19. Carmen Harris says:

Good morning Dyanne, I’m just stopping in to say “hello”… To answer your question – “did the title fool you?” Yes, it did fool me, I must admit when I saw the title my mind was somewhere other than what was actually written. LOL I really loved the story and not because of the name… ;) LOL

    Carmen

  20. Sharon says:

Where did the name Lilli White come from?

    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

And where did the name Niveah come from? I kind liked it.

      • Sharon says:

I wonder if it’s pronounced like the hand creme Nivea or Nee vay ah….Niveah almost looks like my granddaughter’s middle name is Nevaeh which is heaven spelled backwards

        • 'cilla says:

I had the same thought as you Sharon.. I love the way it sounds when you say it :-)

        • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

I’ve that one before too. I really like the spelling of the one in the book.

          • Tee C. Royal says:

To be honest…ROFL…me too! I was about to roll my eyes at the Neveah spelling. It’s been used a lot the past few years in books. :)

            -Tee
            :::straightening halo:::

        • Dyanne Davis says:

Duhh. Sharon, Thank you. I reread your comment. That’s exactly why I gave her that name. I think it was during a time I was writing something about a character I have named Heaven. Now that romance of mine I really like. I fell in love with Hamid. I’m so glad Genesis Press is going to reissue it this year. YEAH!!

          Dyanne

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Jaime,

If you’d asked me that a few months ago I would be able to answer that question. I know I had a reason for the name but remember I’m getting old and forgetful.

        Dyanne

    • A.M. Wells says:

I took the name Lilli White as a play on words that a black man writing romance would have a boarder a appeal to a wider reading audience. Or maybe he just pulled off a flower sack.

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Sharon,

Think bad thoughts on that name. I’ve wanted to use it for years and everyone kept saying NO. I was going to write under that name but spell it as Lillie or Lily. I was being bad.

      Dyanne

  21. Tee C. Royal says:

Well, I’m going to step out for a few, but y’all feel free to continue. But, Dyanne…a quick question for you.

Tell us about your other books, especially those you write under another name and which are more fun to write.

    -Tee

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Tee,

Without a question the books that I write under F. D. Davis are much more fun to write. I think I might be a little bit sick but I love the anti-hero types. I love the killing, the blood, the doing whatever the heck they want without worrying about it.

Adam Omega, is the only character that has made me create a website, a store, a diary, a blog and buy promotional products for with his name engraved.

Bill and I were going to Walmart about a year or so ago and I was telling him that I wanted to find a really nice cape and fangs for a book signing. He stopped walking turned me around by the shoulders looked me in the eye and said, “Dyanne, you are not a vampire.”

I started laughing so hard and we started kissing right there in the parking lot. Romance does not have that effect on me. Sorry.

      Dyanne

      • angelia says:

Oh, I love that story about you and Bill, I tell you I love me some Adam, don’t fall in love with characters often, but he did it for me~ glad he was mentioned again so I could say that~ hee hee~

        angelia

      • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Hahahaha, I love it!!! You think you’re a vampire, now I’m intrigued!

        • Dyanne Davis says:

          Jamie,

LOL. Listen, I’m really …let’s say frugal. But I keep buying things for Adam. He has an amber cross and he bought Eve an amber bracelet. My sister gave me a look like I was totally crazy and asked me who was going to wear them. Oh I almost forgot Adam also has an amber ring that only fits on my left ring finger. Let’s just say I don’t take my wedding band off and replace it with Adam’s ring until I’m gone on a conference that Bill isn’t at.

          Dyanne

      • Tee C. Royal says:

Awwwwwwwwww, this is too cute! But this buying-things-for-the-non-existent-vampire? Ummmm, don’t tell anyone else about that girl. ROFL. We’ll keep your secrets, but you step off the site telling folks and you’re on your own.

        -Tee

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Duhh,

I guess I could have given the names of the books. In The Beginning, In Blood We Trust, and the one that will be out in a month, Lest Ye Be Judged. A.M. Wells is working on a trailer for him. She’s super fantastic. She did the trailer for Destination Romance and for In The Beginning and In Blood We Trust. She also did the trailer for my romance, The Critic, That one is my favorite. And don’t forget Vulcan in Carnivale Diabolique. My novella (abuot 125 pages) is titled, The Good Side of Evil.

Can you see how my evil mind works with the titles?

By the way A.M. Wells will be having her very first book coming out soon with Red Rose Publishing. Yeah!!

      Dyanne

  22. Dyanne Davis says:

Okay, it’s time for me to pull a name. Give me a min. to write down all the names and have Bill pull one then I’ll post the winner. Back in a flash

    Dyanne

  23. Hello Dyanne!

I hope I’m not too late! I love this story. They title fooled me too, but I got it when I realized what the story was about.

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Hello Abi,

You’re not too late. We’re going to be here until 8P.M. EST. Thanks for dropping by. Now tell me how did you now right away that they were married?

      Dyanne

  24. Dyanne Davis says:

    And the winner is…………………..

Sharon. Just email me your mailing address and tell me which book you want.

    Dyanne

    • Tee C. Royal says:

It is so funny that this came through just as I was typing up a message calling you a tease for making the ladies chat 3 whole hours before you started the prizes.

      -Tee

      • Dyanne Davis says:

        Tee,

I think all of the ladies missed the fact that I offered to give away a copy of Destination Romance to the one that told me the page number where it says they’re married. Maybe I should have said even if you have the book and want to give it to someone that you can do that. I have to buy some of the copies fo the book to give away. I have to support the charity. (smile)

Anyway the book won’t be signed because I’m going to order it from Amazon and see if they will just deliver it.

        Dyanne

    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

      Congratulations, Sharon!!!

    • Sharon says:

      WOO HOO!!! Thank you!!!!

    • 'cilla says:

      Congrats Sharon :-)

  25. Karen D. says:

I’m here giving my total support to Dyanne. Down On My Knees as usual is a winner

  26. Dyanne Davis says:

    And the second winner is……………………

Jamie. Oh and Sharon I forgot to give you my email, same goes for you Jamie. Tell me which book you want. davisdyanne@aol.com

    Dyanne

  27. 'cilla says:

Dyanne.. would you do another project like this again in the future?

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Jaime,

Don’t give Dee any ideas. But seriously, I would. I would like to do something for literacy or for kids next time or battered women.

O.T. I stopped for a few and went to shovel snow again. WE just got back in the house and the little kids loved the piles of snow we’d made and starting playing it it and throwing it all over our drive. I was laughing but Bill opened the door and told them to stop. He told them they could play in it but not to throw it back on the drive. They have no idea how much work that is to get it up.

      D

      • Tee C. Royal says:

That sounds so beautiful (all the snow), but I’m so glad it’s there and not here. We’re getting flurries now (yep in metro ATL) and folks are braced, thinking schools and everything will be closed tomorrow.

        -Tee

      • Deatri says:

Too late Dyanne, I already have a few ideas. You know my dyslexic butt is into childrens literacy. I just thought I’d give you a little break.

        Love you
        Dee

  28. Dyanne Davis says:

    New drawing.

Name all of the authors in Destination Romance. I will pull a name from all the correct answers.

    Dyanne

  29. Tee C. Royal says:

I feel like grabbing a bag of popcorn and watching (reading) y’all.

    ROFL.

    -Tee

    • Sharon says:

Gary and I just finished watching a movie. A lot of snow out here.

      • Sharon says:

And we had BBQ pulled pork sandwiches…made in the crockpot…oooooo so good….coleslaw and corn on the cob!!

        • Dyanne Davis says:

          Sharon,

What movie and do you want to share that recipe?

          D

          • Sharon says:

Sure…the movie was Catch A Fire with Derek Luke and the recipe:

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork (Serves 8)

            Ingredients
            1 (2 pound) pork tenderloin
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle root beer
1 (18 ounce) bottle your favorite barbecue sauce
8 hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted

            Directions
1.Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker; pour the root beer over the meat. Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours. Note: the actual length of time may vary according to individual slow cooker. Drain well. Stir in barbecue sauce. Serve over hamburger buns.

  30. Dyanne Davis says:

    Tee,

I’m thinking since we’ve shoveled twice today I can have some popcorn myself.

    D

    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

We just had our first winter blast (in St. Louis, MO) of the season and all I want to do is move to Hawaii until winter ends. With the snow the temp is now dropping which means more cold, sigh!!!!

      • Dyanne Davis says:

I’d move to Hawaii permanently. I see we’ve all been sent to the corner so I’ll be quiet and stop going off topic. But I have to say that this is the first chat where people stuck to books for so long. WE did good.

        Dyanne

  31. Tee C. Royal says:

Okay, I see y’all got off on a tangent. Everyone take a break and then come on back and tell us about the funniest scene in the book.

    -Tee

    • Sharon says:

hmmmmmm…..can’t really think of a funny scene but I guess when Barbara finally realized Aaron/Carmen were really honest about their connection

    • Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Not to beat a dead horse, but the funny scene to me was when Aaron whispered to Carmen about wearing the crotchless panties.

      • Sharon says:

Dang…I forgot about the crotchless panties!

        • Dyanne Davis says:

You ladies are making me laugh about those panties. I think the funniest moment was when Lisa told Barb, “What ever Barb.” She tells her that all the time so that’s why I thought it was funny.

          Dyanne

  32. Jaime L. Lincoln says:

Dyanne, my time has come to an end and I’m headed home in the cold and snow. I hope I didn’t scare you too bad with my kick, LOL!!! I’ll keep you posted on my thoughts on the books and please keep me posted about that scene.

  33. Rita Rippy says:

    Hi Dyanne,

I have not purchased this book yet but I will. (lol) You know that I am a huge fan and love all your novels! I have not jumped on the e-book band wagon yet because I prefer the paper copy. I am trying to save up my coins to purchase a Kindle though. (lol) After reading all the comments about this book, I know for sure now that I need to get it! Happy New Year and have a great rest of the evening.

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Hi Rita,

How are you? Listen, I need to buy one more copy of Destination Romance anyway so consider this your win just because.

      love you

      Dyanne

      • Rita Rippy says:

        Hi Dyanne,

Thank you! You are the best. What are the other books in this series? If they are in print form, I want to purchase them. How do I order them?

        Love you too,

        Rita

  34. Lisa G. says:

    Hi, Dyanne and Dyanne-fans!

  35. Dyanne Davis says:

    What is next for you?

    • Dyanne Davis says:

See, I’m going to look like the guest that doesn’t know when to go home. LOL. But come on people. It would be rude of me not to answer comments. I swear I know the chat is over. I really really do.

Mona, You’re nuts and RAW’s going to know for sure that I am. But still thanks Mona for stopping by to comment…….even after it was over. LOL.

      Dyanne

  38. Dyanne Davis says:

    Tee,

Thank you so much for inviting me to participate in the chat. This has been so much fun. Count me in next year. Barb is on the phone with me and told me to tell you all HEYYYYYYYYY!! Thank you ladies for being here for me today.

Please email me if you don’t get your books in the next week or so. I do forget things. Love youall.

    Dyanne

    • Tee C. Royal says:

Dyanne, thank YOU so much! It’s always great “seeing” you and sharing book talk with you.

  39. Louise says:

    Hi Dyanne,
Well what can be said about On My Knee I tell the title grap me from the jump….lol. Once again you have show why I love your writing. I enjoyed the book and wish it was longer.

    Smooches

    Louise

    • Dyanne Davis says:

      Louise,

You’re making another notch on my crazy meter. But I keep getting these emails and I have to come back. Have a good week end. And thanks. Glad you liked the story.

      Dyanne

      • Tee C. Royal says:

LOL!!! I actually get them for every post on the site, so I can definitely understand how you feel. But, I really appreciate you taking the time to come back and respond. That means a lot!! (And I’m glad you did because I forgot to do what you asked me to do yesterday.) I’m on it now though…

        -Tee

  40. Linda Chavis says:

Ok somebody needs to send a sistah one of them books they won..LOL Congrats !! Excellent chat..!

  41. mary says:

OMG this was one of the most entertaining chats ever! I did not know that Dyanne wrote under this other name and now I’m adding FD Davis to my TBR! Excellent job ladies. After a rough Chicago day I had…this was a God send.

    • Tee C. Royal says:

ROFL!!! That’s why I love being able to come in and out vs the regular one-hour chats we did in the past. Thanks so much for your feedback, Mary. Now…let’s see if Dyanne comes back to respond too. Ahahha!!

      -Tee

  42. Dyanne Davis says:

    Tee,

It’s Friday and I’m coming back once again to tell you thank you. Since I know you have access to the ladies who wrote in please do me a favor. Ask Brenda, Mary and Linda to email me with their addresses and I will send them a copy of either, The Critic, Another Man’s Baby, Forever and A Day, Lotus Blossum, In The Beginning or In Blood We Trust. Their choice. Their names were not put into the drawing and that’s not fair.

As for you, I’m going to order all the copies of Destination Romance today so email me with info so I can take care of it while my mind is on it.

Last thing, so you won’t think I’m totally nuts. Adam wears an amber ring and an amber cross and I wanted the ring for the cover. So I went looking for that and found it at an RWA conference in Atalanta. Next I found his cross. Then later Adam gave Eve an amber bracelet and I had to find it. This has given me an idea for an article complete with pictures.

Okay, that’s it. I know the chat is over. LOL.

    Dyanne

    • Tee C. Royal says:

ROFL!! Will do girl, will do. And ummmm hmmm about that Adam gear.

Funny funny! Thanks so much for chatting with us. We had a great time and are glad you did too. You’ll have to come back again later in the year. :)

      -Tee

      • 'cilla says:

        • Tee C. Royal says:

Thanks, ‘Cilla, we appreciate your support and once the challenge is over, we’ll be back to our Tues/Thurs schedule of either an author chat or black book talk topic. So, if this helps… LOL.

          -Tee
