Stacy, it is a pleasure to hang out with you today. I have not read this series, but I am looking forward to it and soon! The books are absolutely beautiful.
Please tell us a bit more about you and how you came about writing the series and what the experience has been like for you.
-Tee
Hi Tee,
Thanks so much for hosting me today!
Thanks also for the feedback on the covers of the books in the Jubilant Soul series. My publisher’s art team did a great job. I hope you’ll enjoy the novels when you get a chance to read them.
In answer to your question, I’m a GRITS (Girl Raised in the South) who grew up in Arkansas and loved to read and write from as early as I can remember. That led to an interest in journalism. I graduated from Jackson State University with a degree in mass communications and worked as a daily newspaper reporter for 13 years, mostly in Florida and Virginia.
But the fiction bug bit me again. I wrote my first novel while still working as a reporter, The books in the Jubilant Soul series are my fourth, fifth and sixth books.
I wanted to write about a southern family with a close bond that supported each other through their ups and downs and learn more about themselves during the process. Jubilant is a fictional Texas town, and it’s a metaphor for the fact that many of us often search for happines outside of ourselves, instead of looking within. These characters learn, in their own ways, that when they accept their personal truths and start loving others with no strings attached, the peace they’re searching for will come.
I had a great time creating characters that were real, but approachable.
Okay, now I KNOW I’m reading the books now! I also grew up in Arkansas, population 335. ROFL. I love books that portray the good ole days in small towns.
I didn’t know you were a reporter, either.

Everyone…don’t forget to answer the questions posed in the initial post above, so you can be entered to win a set of the Jubilant Series books! There’s even a question for those who may not have read the books yet.
-Tee
Tee, I didn’t know you were a fellow Arkansan! I thought I was big stuff – my town has about 60,000 residents – Pine Bluff.
Jubilant is about that size – a small college town, and the characters come from a deeply religious family. Yet everything isn’t always as it seems. Readers quickly find out that there are no perfect Christians in this book. Holier than thou just won’t cut it in real life. The truth won’t let it.
Angelia, thanks so much for the feedback. I hope you’ll enjoy the novels when they rise to the top of your stack.
Hi, Stacy. Thanks for joining RAWSISTAZ on today. After reading the excerpt on the blog tour on yesterday, I’m definitely looking forward to reading DTWLG. I enjoyed hearing more about your background and the inspiration behind the Jubilant series. I’m a GRITS as well.
Welcome, Stacy! Your book covers are enticing and I look forward to reading the series. With your having been a reporter, I can only imagine your gift in relaying a story. Here are my answers to the questions:
1. My someday list includes financial freedom, world travel, and a writing career.
2. My personal truth is that I’ll never be a size 6 again.
3. I dream of seeing the world, financial freedom, a career of writing and not just a hobby, teaching part-time.
Congratulations on a successful series!
Hope,
Thanks for the warm welcome! Where are you from? FYI , my first series of books, which included “Watercolored Pearls,” was also set in the south – in Richmond, Va., where I currently live.
D.J., your list sounds a lot like mine! I’m a firm believer that the more we speak confidently about our dreams, the closer we come to making them our reality.
Tee, in response to an earlier comment, about me being a reporter, I covered criminal courts for three years, then social issues for ten. I also wrote an inspirational column for the newspaper that focused on people overcoming challenges, living their faith and giving back to others. So a lot of the themes that are fictionalized in my novels come from experiences in my other writing journey.
Hi, Stacy. You’re welcome! I’m originally from Magnolia, NC, AKA Small Town USA! I read and enjoyed your first series. The Jubilant series is definitely on my list!
Hello Stacy and welcome ! I will respond to the dreams question. My “dream” is to write and get published a story I have carried around for over 20 years.
Hi Linda,
Wow – if the story has been with you that long, that’s a
sign that it’s waiting to be birthed! Will this be the year?
That is the plan..thanks
Stacy, thank you for stopping by today!!! I’ve added the jubilant series to my TBR list and can’t wait to read.
I’ve heard of Pine Bluff, unfortunately never been to visit. For years the football team from UAPB were apart of the St. Louis Classics here in St. Louis, MO each fall. I also have several family friends that went to UAPB.
Here’s my answer to question 3
My dream is to be financially stable. Put my thoughts to paper and hopefully write a short story, novel, something…LOL!!!
I hear you, Linda. It’s definitely a process. I love the
saying, “Baby steps count too.”
That’s actually one of the realizations the characters
in “Dreams That Won’t Let Go” have.
Jaime, my siblings often traveled to that classic. It’s a small
world! Hope you’ll enjoy the books in the series!
Tee, thank you for hosting Stacy today on RAWSistaz.
