Bernard, did you find it hard to birth this book?

Do You Wanna Be Made Whole is my first story in print. So I would have to say that it was the difficult to birth. My hope is that the others will not be so hard.

Do you have a current favorite read?

I don’t have any favorites. I have equally enjoyed reading Kendra Norman Bellamy’s Shelton Heights series. The series that Vanessa Griggs has written featuring Pastor George Landris and his Johnnie Mae are among my favorites. I love Vanessa Miller’s Rain series.

How would you describe your writing style?

I look at life and write about different experiences and how people respond to them. My story have a biblical approach to complex situations.

Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what kind?

No, I have a one track mind, if I had music on I would have listened to the music.

Tell us anything about you as a writer that you think might be interesting or unusual.

When I reached the end of writing the novel my computer crashed, so I started using the computer at church and at the last twenty pages that computer crashed. I started to wonder was I getting a message from somewhere, fortunately I pressed on and completed it.

What advice do you have for aspiring writers?

Be consistent and focused in your pursuit of writing. Find a community that can support you and encourage you. Connect with a mentor who can teach you what you need to know to be successful.

Writers are often encouraged to write what they know. Have you found that to be the case with your writing?

For this story I would have to say yes. I based the novel in Cleveland which is my hometown. The characters are composites of men that I know and have known. Some of the historical references that I have mentioned were based on history that I was aware of. Of course later, I would like to stretch in my writings and deal with subjects and areas that I don’t know.

Wow. This is a great interview RAWSistaz!

Mr. Boulton is a well-read individual. What a story: two computers crashing before the completion of this novel. You can tell me this one isn’t destined to be a reality. Sometimes, that’s a sign to quit. Instead, it made the journey that much richer.

Thank you for sharing Mr. Boulton and RAWSistaz.
