I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13). In these deeply troubled economic times, we must reconstruct our vision to be financially independent. Carter has carefully researched the Word of God and uncovered a plan to put every house on a solid foundation. The plan is clear and deeply rooted in the Word:

1.      Develop a Vision

2.      Set up some Goals

3.      Put your Vision into Action and see Achievement

4.      Make every penny work hard

5.      Live within your means

6.      Nurture your money babies

7.      Leave a Legacy

8.      Get your Relationship with God in order

The easy-to-comprehend financial guide offers detailed steps on how to make you money work for you. The chapter reviews, charts and graphs will aid in keeping you focused. Carter also provides eight different workshops that coincide with this book. Yes, I Can Set My House in Order would be great for a bible study, anyone wanting to make their money grow or for a business student looking for a new way.

Everyone wants to be successful in life. We are always looking for that one piece of advice that would make a difference. Dear Success Seeker is that advice. Wright has assembled letters from over 80 women of various backgrounds to share their wisdom. The letters are motivational and ham packed with “pearls of wisdom”. Some of the inspirational nuggets are:

Sandra Yancy – “Give first, share always”

Robin Wolaner – “Allow for serendipity – you can do it all just not all at once. Follow your interests and values, the money will take care of itself.”

Susan L. Taylor – “Do what you love”

Faye Wattleton – “Be informed. Be vigilant! Don’t shrink from power. Support other women. Be an independent thinker.”

Mae C. Jemison – “Always remember who you intend to be”

Dear Success Seeker should have a prominent spot on every female’s desk. The letters should be highlighted, dog-eared, paper clipped or adorned with post-it-notes. The words should be passed down from generation to generation. Dear Success Seeker would make the perfect graduation, birthday, or a simple just because gift.

Zina and Robert Roman put on a show of the perfect marriage. Robert has an up and coming computer networking business which means late nights, extravagant dinners and countless hours away from home. While Zina has an intriguing job in Human Resources but has way too much time on her hands. In need of a break from the hum drum monotony of daily life, Zina ventures off on an extended weekend alone to clear her head. Zina takes the time to come to grips with Robert’s roaming eye and her intense loneliness. Robert (feeling guilty) pulled out all the stops to make sure that Zina enjoys herself in New Orleans – first-class plane ticket, luxury hotel suite, personal driver and VIP tickets to all festival events. It worked but Zina never realized she would meet someone that would catch her eye and capture a spot in her heart.

Enter the supporting cast – Rayna (Zina’s best friend) and Kendall (Robert’s football buddy). These two people play important roles in the Roman’s marriage. Zina and Roman are forced to tell lie after lie to cover up what they don’t want the other to know. They never realized that they both were in the wrong until it was almost too late. Their insidious twist of lies builds up to an ending that will take your breath away.

Jones creates a visual picture of deceit with the vivid descriptions, character analysis and situations written. The storyline builds to an unbelievable frenzy that holds true to the title. The novel ends with a bunch of questions that hopefully will be addressed in the sequel. Twisted Lies is everything an avid reader looks for – drama, passion, deceit, steamy sex scenes and heartache.
