CONTEST

AUGUST 2008
CONTEST
Ten (10) winners will
be selected at random to receive a free copy of Stand
the Storm by Breena Clark OR Method Man,
compliments of RAWSISTAZ and Hachette Book Group.
Stand
the Storm by Breena Clarke
Even
though Sewing Annie Coats and her son, Gabriel, have managed
to buy their freedom, their lives are still marked by constant
struggle and sacrifice. Washington's Georgetown neighborhood,
where the Coatses operate a tailor's shop and laundry, is
supposed to be a "promised land" for former slaves but is
effectively a frontier town, gritty and dangerous, with no
laws protecting black people.
The remarkable emotional energy with which the Coatses wage
their daily battles-as they negotiate with their former owner,
as they assist escaped slaves en route to freedom, as they
prepare for the encroaching war, and as they strive to love
each other enough-is what propels STAND THE STORM and makes
the novel's tragic denouement so devastating.

Method Man by Method Man, Sanford Greene & David Atchison
An
ancient evil of unfathomable power plots the unspeakable--the
destruction of the mortal realm and beyond. Man's only hope
lies in Peerless Poe, a hard-luck private eye with a taste for
booze and a magnetic attraction to danger. A former member of
the clandestine Order of the Sacred Method, Poe must forge an
uneasy alliance with those who exploited him against enemy
bent on global annihilation. This unholy threat wears a
woman's face and wields dark energies capable of destroying
normal men. But Poe hasn't been normal in years. The Order saw
to that. Poe is scarred. Poe is transformed. Poe is . . .
Method Man.

A
Sticky Situation by Kiki Swinson
At 34, the beautiful Maxine Shaw thrives in her current
position as a federal parole officer. Known throughout
countless federal correctional facilities for violating and
sending parolees from her caseload back to prison, she’s the
most surprised when she lets her guard down for Seth.
The confident, ruthless, Seth Richardson sets his sights on
Maxine, who is instantly turned on by his swagger. The
consequences she would face from her employer if she ever got
caught dating a parolee is alluring. They begin a tumultuous,
secretive relationship that has restrictions.
Knowing that Maxine has aspirations of owning a small
business, Seth convinces her to ignore his drug-hustling in
order to get her the start-up money. Everything seems to be
going according to plan until Maxine finds out that Seth has a
major distraction in his life—Samantha Mitchell. Samantha, who
happens to be Seth’s codefendant and ‘ride or die’ chick, has
just come home from serving jail time in a women’s federal
camp.
As both women compete for Seth’s love and affection—a sticky
situation unfolds.
