As part of SEVAA’s literacy campaign, “Reading is a Family Affair,” launched in 2008, the organization seeks to recognize and support outstanding contributions in the literary arena by African-Americans. Nominations are currently being accepted for its 3rd Annual Afr’Am Fest Literary Awards (AFLA) Program. The program is mainly aimed at small press and self-published authors who may not be recognized by large, mainstream venues. With exposure to our numerous supporters around the country, AFLA seeks to help these authors who may not have the resources available to be recognized on a larger platform.
Nomination is open to African-American Literature published during the year 2009. The winners of each category will be recognized at a special Literary Award Ceremony during Afr’Am Festival slated for May 21-23, 2010.
Nominations must be received by March 15, 2010. For the complete guidelines visit 2010 AFLA Guidelines
